Safety, efficiency, and minimal disruption to site operations are at the core of everything we do. Before hydrant testing begins, our team erects safety barriers, and any disturbed areas are fully reinstated on completion.
Every assessment includes pressure testing to confirm system integrity under operational conditions, with all work carried out in accordance with BS 9990.
Every job involves the comprehensive gathering of hydraulic data. Our engineers measure:
Lowflo’s hydrant testing services are ideal for industrial and commercial clients requiring accurate, standards-compliant flow and pressure testing. Whether you manage a single site or a large network, our engineers work safely and efficiently and with full documentation issued on completion. Our services include:
Our flow testing accurately measures hydrant flow rates against BS 9990 benchmarks, confirming they meet the requirements for fire suppression systems in an emergency.
Our pressure testing measures static and residual pressure across the network, identifying any deficiencies such as low readings. Results are documented in a certified report issued upon completion.
On completion, our engineers issue a certified written report suitable for submission to insurers and fire authorities, confirming that all work carried out is compliant with BS 9990.
Hydrant failures are not uncommon, and are no cause for concern. Any identified issues are clearly documented with practical recommendations for remedial works.

Fire hydrant flow testing measures the flow rate and pressure within a hydrant network to ensure that it can deliver sufficient pressurised water at an adequate flow rate in the event of an emergency. It also ensures full compliance with BS 9990:2015, the code of practice for non-automatic fire-fighting systems in buildings.
According to BS 9990, fire hydrants in Ireland should be inspected and tested annually, with a visual inspection every six months. Regular testing is essential, and many fire authorities and insurers routinely ask for evidence of testing.
Flow testing measures how much (volume) a hydrant is capable of delivering. Pressure testing measures static and residual pressure contained within the hydrant. Both are required for BS 9990 compliance.
Hydrants routinely fail testing, so it’s no cause for excessive worry. When a hydrant fails testing against BS 9990 criteria, a written report is issued that identifies any failed hydrants, why they failed, and lists recommendations for remedial works. Clients are guided on the next steps with confidence and clarity.
Upon completion of any hydrant testing job, a certified written report is issued to the client. This report contains all measurements taken and the compliance status of the hydrant network. This report is adequate for insurers, fire authorities, and internal recordkeeping.
Lowflo has offices in Cork and Dublin, and our hydrant testing services are available to commercial and industrial clients located anywhere within the Republic of Ireland or Northern Ireland, as well as in the UK and internationally.
