FIRE HYDRANT FLOW TESTING

Fire Hydrant Testing (Pressure and Flow Simulation)

Fire safety is critical for all facilities and property owners and annual (or bi-annual) fire hydrant testing is used to determine the security of access to water for fire brigades in the event of a fire occurring. BS9990: The fire hydrant testing procedure includes logging the pressure and establishing the maximum sustainable flow rate from each fire hydrant. The condition of the hydrant chamber and each fire hydrant is assessed and recorded in accordance with the BS:9990 criteria. Fire Hydrant flow testing and condition assessment is essential to certify a fire hydrant’s optimum performance, and provides evidence of compliance with your fire certificate. Typical large sites requiring Fire Hydrant Testing:

Hospital Manufacturing/Pharmaceutical Plants Business Parks Factories Universities Residential Parks

Hydrant Testing and maintenance should be conducted for both insurance purposes and to ensure operability if a fire was to occur. Lowflo provides a nationwide team of hydrant technicians who provide the following as part of your fire hydrant maintenance programme.
  • Uninhibited flow tests
  • Static pressure tests
  • Pit inspections
  • Frost valve checks

Dry Riser Testing

Lowflo provides two types of service in accordance with BS 9990:
  • Visual inspection
  • Annual pressure and flow test service
  • Test the riser with water and pressurise to 10 bar measured at the inlet for a period not less than 15 minutes
  • Whilst test is in progress check entire system for any obvious leakage
