WCs

Toilet flushing accounts for up to 30 % of a facilites water consumption.

Addressing the flush volume of a cistern can achieve significant savings. A standard flush of 10-14 litres can be reduced to 4-6 litres, depending on the functionality of the facility and the effectiveness of the wastewater system.

The are two WC retrofit options:

  • Displacement device – traditionally a brick was used to replace 1-2 litres of water. Hippo bags and Save-a-Flush are purposely designed and will not interfere with flushing mechanism.
  • Variable flush mechanism retrofit – significant and sustained saving can be made. The user can vary the volume of water used by depressing the handle to achieve desired flush volume.

For new installations or new builds, toilet manufacturers have a range of water efficient toilets that we can advise upon.
